We are currently witnessing the collapse of the teaching authority's prestige. These issues require attention not only of those who administer educational policies; but also educators themselves in order to properly assess their profession from the complex responsibilities and demands of the educational task. This paper reflects on the importance of being a university professor and the challenges that involve the exercise of it in light of the overall education of students. The implications of the search for truth and the cultivation of teachers' knowledge in their unit and diversity are analyzed. Finally it is concluded that being a university professor is to consider and rethink the fundamental questions of the truth of being, in the constant search for the perennial and transient in teaching because the educational task is an adventure worthy of existence.Downloads
