This paper approaches the perceptions that thirty university teachers hold aboutsome of the key components of the English teaching and learning process.Through a case study methodology, a semi-structured interview and journals areused to explore the participants‟ cognitive dimension. The data are analyzedthrough the semantic content analysis technique that allowed the organization ofthe information into dimensions, categories and subcategories. The results andconclusions outline the complexity of the participants‟ perceptions about howEnglish is taught in the context of an eighth region university.
